Maho Beach (Princess Juliana Airport)
One of the most famous beaches in the world: planes land directly overhead on their approach to Princess Juliana Airport, passing close enough to feel the jet blast. Arrive 30–45 minutes before a scheduled flight for the best position. Check flight schedules in advance.
Saint-Martin: Beaches & European Vibe
The French side (Saint-Martin) is quieter, more upscale, and has a distinctly European atmosphere. Grand Case village is the culinary center of the entire island — a single main street lined with excellent restaurants ranging from casual lolos (BBQ shacks) to refined French dining. Orient Bay is the best beach on the island.
Sint Maarten: Philipsburg & Nightlife
The Dutch side (Sint Maarten) is more developed, louder, and has more shopping, casinos, and nightlife. Philipsburg fills dramatically when cruise ships are docked — timing visits to avoid cruise days makes for a much calmer experience.
Orient Bay (Baie Orientale)
The premier beach on the island — long, crescent-shaped, with water sports rentals, beach bar restaurants, and excellent swimming.
