What to See

Osaka Castle & Park
One of Japan's most impressive castle reconstructions. The surrounding park is free and beautiful — climb the tower for city views. Weekday mornings avoid the tour group rush. Pro Tip: Arrive 30–60 minutes before opening to explore the park and take pictures before it gets crowded.
Dotonbori & Namba
The heart of Osaka's food and nightlife culture. Takoyaki, okonomiyaki, kushikatsu — eat everything. The Giant Glico Running Man sign is the most photographed landmark in the area and genuinely worth seeing at night.
Kuromon Ichiba Market
Known as Osaka's Kitchen — a covered market packed with fresh seafood, grilled skewers, and local produce. Many stalls let you eat on the spot. Go hungry.
Shinsekai District
A 1910s retro neighborhood that feels like a different era. Famous for kushikatsu restaurants — fried skewers dipped in communal sauce. The house rule is absolute: DO NOT double-dip. Locals enforce this seriously.
Namba & Amerika-Mura
Amerika-Mura ('America Village') is Osaka's youth fashion and street culture hub — independent boutiques, record stores, and good people-watching. Transitions naturally into Dotonbori for an evening.
Minoh Park
A forested valley on the northern edge of the city, best known for the 33-meter Minoh Falls at the end of a pleasant 3km walking trail along the river. The hike up is gentle and well-paved, lined with maple trees that turn brilliant red and gold in November. A refreshing break from the city, and a good half-day trip especially if you're in Osaka during autumn foliage season.
